Tromsø · Vervet

More than a shop.Gifts made in Scandinavia.

The idea is simple: a shop with products made in Scandinavia – gifts that represent our beautiful part of the world, and the people who make them.

Our vision

More than a gift shop.

The Gift Box is a locally owned meeting place and a showcase for Northern Norway. We bring together craft, art, photography, food, drink and quality products with strong ties to our region and the rest of the Nordics.

We want to give local producers, artists and artisans a stage where their products and stories can be discovered. With us you should know more about what you buy: who made it, where it comes from and why it deserves to come home with you.

The Gift Box also creates tailor-made gift boxes and gift bags for companies, hotels, conferences, groups and special occasions. At the same time, the shop is simply a nice place to drop by – whether you are looking for a gift, a memory from Tromsø or just a good cup of coffee.

Unique and authentic

Carefully selected products with quality, character and a story to tell.

A platform for artisans

We build relationships with independent craftspeople and artists in Northern Norway. Several make products especially for us.

The stories behind

Every product has a story. You don't just buy an item, but the people and the place behind it.

Our story

A small rebellion against the big brands

At the beginning of 2026, we decided to start The Gift Box. Our main motivation was the desire to create something of our own, but also to give the city a business created by locals – a small rebellion against the large companies and global brands that increasingly dominate today's retail landscape.

Unique and authentic are at the heart of The Gift Box – together with the stories behind what we sell. Because every product has a story. We believe people don't just buy a product. They also buy the story, the people and the place behind it.

About us

The people behind The Gift Box

The Gift Box is built on the idea of an authentic gift shop with a carefully curated selection of products from the Arctic and Northern regions. An important part of the vision is to create a platform for the many talented artisans and artists in Northern Norway – several of them make unique goods especially for our store.

Postcards & art

A little piece of Northern Norway

Take a memory of the north with you – or send it to someone you love. Our postcards feature atmospheric nature photography of the northern lights, dramatic mountains and beautiful coastal landscapes, shot by Thomas Berg Rasmussen.

Find your favourite motif at The Gift Box. A personal greeting from your journey, or a small picture that deserves a place in a frame.

Photographer

Kristoffer Lorentzen

Kristoffer Lorentzen shot the photographs in our shop, and we also sell a selection of his prints. Originally from Lofoten, he spent eight years as a power line technician at Lofotkraft before trading power lines for cameras and storytelling.

Today he is based in Tromsø, working as an independent photographer and visual storyteller. His images have been shared by BBC, including remarkable photographs of orcas in Northern Norway, and several of his works have gone viral. He is known for Arctic landscapes, wildlife and authentic moments above the Arctic Circle.

Orca IncomingWe had been following the orcas all day, but only seen them from a distance. Towards the very end of the day they suddenly swam beneath a bridge and into one of the many fjords of Lofoten. By pure chance I was standing in the perfect spot at the top of the bridge and managed to capture this moment. The photograph was later shared by BBC Earth.

  • Food and drink service with a wonderful outdoor terrace
